A wine domain in the heart of the vineyard

While the production site of the champagne Veuve J. Lanaud is located in Avize, its heart is in the vineyard. The oldest vines are 84 years old while the average age is 40 years old. They work with 66% of Chardonnay, mostly from the Grands Crus of the Cote des Blancs, 20% of Pinot Noir and 14% of Meunier.

Twelve hectares are spread out on 17 different villages, called “crus, among :

  • Avize, Grand Cru classified village
  • Cramant, Grand Cru classified village
  • Chouilly, Grand Cru classified village
  • Festigny, village of the Vallee de la Marne, for the Meunier

Currently, Edouard and Jonathan grow their vineyard in sustainable viticulture (they limit at the strict minimum the use of pesticide and other chemical products) and want, as soon as possible, turn every hectares in organic agriculture.

In one hand, the champagne is deeply attached to its terroir (soil, subsoil and weather of the 34 000 classified hectares). And in the other hand, it is attached to the history of Men, their art of life and “savoir-faire”. Gauthier’ brothers cleary understood that. Passionate by their work, in love of their lands, they respect the champagne tradition and place the quality of their wines in the top of their priorities.
